It's important to select an adapter that retains the same resolution and refresh rate of your original screen. Next, make sure your VGA is enabled by navigating to "Control Panel" in "Start Menu > Settings" or by clicking on the start button and typing "Control Panel" into search bar at bottom of screen. Once open, click "Hardware and Sound", then click on "Display". This will take you to a new window with a list of settings that can be changed.
